Is goal-setting bad? Of course, the answer is "it depends on how you do it."
I found an excellent article documenting how goal-setting can be extremely damaging to a company (in this case, poor GM).
Along with the idea of best practices, goal-setting is embedded deeply into our corporate culture in North America. What do you think? Is there good goal-setting and bad goal-setting? Does it foster competition in an organization? Is that competition healthy or damaging?
